Australian salmon and shrimp producer Tassal Group has invested A$30 million ($26.1 million) to expand its newly acquired shrimp farm.
The investment at Proserpine, located in Yamba, New South Wales, will increase current farmed shrimp production by around 50 percent in Queensland.
The expansion plans at the shrimp farm, acquired from the Fortune Group of Companies last year, will boost employment opportunities to 100 jobs in the region with 30 construction jobs to be announced this week.
In 2018, Tassal announced plans to invest around $23.9 million in growing the business from 450 metric tons up to 3,000 tons in the next three to five years.
