Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturers Wistron and Foxconn will infuse a combined 7,500 crore rupees ($1.1 billion) to expand their production facilities in India over five years.

Wistron will begin manufacturing iPhone 8 in India and Foxconn will support higher levels of manufacturing of existing clients such as Xiaomi and Nokia phones.

Wistron will invest $707.7 million and Foxconn $353.8 million under an incentive package that will give both parties benefits of $141.5 million and $70.8 million, respectively.

Further, Wistron is seeking to shift some of its personal computers, internet of things, medical and cloud service businesses to India.
