Côte d’Ivoire-based private banking company African Development Bank (AfDB) and Madagascar's Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene have joined forces to enhance the island-nation's climate resilience and ensure access to water. With a funding injection of $3.32 million, this initiative aims to bolster Madagascar's infrastructure and mitigate economic losses due to climate change impacts. This collaboration, facilitated by the AfDB's concessional financing arm, the Project Preparation Facility, will target multiple regions in Madagascar, including Amoron’I Mania, Vakinankaratra, Analamanga, Haute Matsiatra, Ihorombe, and Androy. The project's objective is to mobilize, safeguard, and develop water resources, improving access to clean water, addressing gender-based disparities, and fostering sustainable socioeconomic development in the designated areas.

This partnership between the African Development Bank and Madagascar's Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene demonstrates a commitment to combat climate change and promote water access and socioeconomic development in regions grappling with severe climate-related challenges, such as droughts and floods.
