Angolan petroleum and natural gas production company Sonangol plans to invest $33 million in a solar energy project in the province of Namibe.

The solar project will have the capacity to produce 100 megawatts of electricity, and in the first phase, it will produce 25 megawatts.

Saturnino said that the economic feasibility studies have already been carried out and the company will start construction of the project in 2020.

The company added that the construction of this project will bring an added benefit in terms of reducing diesel consumption.
