Australian investment management company AMP Capital has begun work on the $142 million extension of Marrickville Metro Shopping Centre.
The renovation in Sydney’s inner west will extend the retail center using the site of a disused industrial warehouse. Moreso, the project will create 200 construction jobs and more than 600 local employment opportunities when the new centre is completed.
The building of the new section of the center will bring the entire property from 22,000 square meters to 33,000 square metres when it is finalized in late 2020.
The redevelopment will also add 455 car parking spaces to the shopping center's existing 1018. AMP Capital is managing the project on behalf of owner Australian superannuation fund UniSuper.
