Australian contracting company Yurra has received a five-year contract to provide maintenance services to Pilbara rail network in Western Australia, operated by metals and mining company Rio Tinto.

With a total investment of $20 million, the contract is intended to grow Yurra as a business while also bringing benefits to the wider Roebourne community in which the company is based.

The rail maintenance pact also offers building maintenance and construction services through the sister company, GBSC Yurra, in addition to services such as commercial cleaning, rail and civil maintenance, landscape construction and scaffolding.

As part of the deal, 20 local jobs for Aboriginal workers will be created. Additionally, Rio Tinto also awarded a $10 million contract to GBSC Yurra to upgrade the Rocklea Palms Accommodation Village at the Paraburdoo iron ore mine, also in the Pilbara.
