The European Union and Germany have launched the Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (WE4A) project, headquartered in Belgium and Germany respectively, to support female entrepreneurship in Senegal. The project operates within the framework of green transformation and is part of a regional initiative funded by the European Union, aiming to empower women economically in sectors contributing to green transformation. Selected businesses can receive $5,000 in support, with the project running from 2024 to 2027. WE4A, with a pilot phase in 2021, has similar initiatives in seven other African countries and aims to support over five hundred women.

The initiative, led by the German Corporation for International Cooperation, seeks to empower female entrepreneurs who contribute to green projects. With a budget of 40 million euros ($43 million), WE4A aims to foster economic empowerment and financial inclusion for women entrepreneurs across Africa, including in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Cameroon, and Togo.
