The Cameroon Rural Food Security Support Project (Secal), inaugurated in Yaoundé, is a collaboration between the Cameroonian government and the French embassy, funded with approximately 10.5 billion Central African CFA franc ($17.5 million) under the third Debt Reduction and Development Contract. Running from 2024 to 2026, Secal aims to promote job creation, inclusive growth, and food security by enhancing rural enterprises across production basins in Cameroon. Launched by the Minister of the Economy, Planning, and Territorial Development, the project addresses challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukrainian war, impacting food security and inflation in Cameroon.

Secal's interventions target the successful implementation of the rural development sector strategy, focusing on key regions like the North, Far North, Littoral, West, and Center. The project seeks to strengthen agricultural productivity, provide tailored financial services to rural entrepreneurs, enhance food and nutritional system resilience, and improve the availability and accessibility of agricultural products. With support from the French embassy, Secal represents a crucial step in Cameroon's commitment to mitigating food insecurity challenges and fostering sustainable rural development.
