China-based tiles manufacturer KEDA Ceramics announced plans to put up a $55 million plant in Kenya, cementing its position as one of the largest manufacturers of tiles in the East African region.

The first two phases of KEDA’s operations expects the company to create over 1,200 jobs directly and more than 1500 others indirectly.

Phase three will expect the company to invest another $25 million making it a total of $80 million investment in Kenya.

With the plans to operationalize phase three sometime next year, KEDA Ceramics will directly create 500 more jobs.
