Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Prize Competition, a philanthropic initiative sponsored by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Philanthropy, has hosted forty participants in Hangzhou, China. Among them were the top ten Heroes and other finalists from across Africa. Engaging in activities at Alibaba’s headquarters, participants gained valuable insights to enhance their entrepreneurial endeavors on the continent. They delved into various aspects of the digital economy, exchanged knowledge, and explored collaboration opportunities with business leaders from Alibaba. ABH extends its 2024 entry deadline to June 9, offering entrepreneurs access to resources and a supportive network. $1.5 million in grant funding will be distributed among the top ten finalists, with the first prize winner receiving $300,000.

The initiative has hosted information sessions and community events across Africa, fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial community. These events have taken place in South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire, with upcoming sessions scheduled for Egypt, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Senegal.
