Niger has signed a $400 million deal with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) for crude oil sales from the Agadem oilfield. The agreement strengthens cooperation between the two countries.

Situated onshore Niger, the Agadem field is a producing conventional oilfield. The oil will be transported via the Niger-Benin pipeline, a project launched in November 2023 and supported by CNPC subsidiary PetroChina, with exports routed through the port of Cotonou in Benin.
