Chinese venture capital fund Shunwei Capital has raised one of its largest funds yet at $1.21 billion, taking the total assets under management by the firm to over $3 billion across all its funds.

The size of its latest fund is particularly significant for India which has emerged as the second most important landscape for Shunwei Capital after its home ground China.

In the past two years alone, Shunwei Capital has made 16 investments across various startups right from seed to Series C stages in the social media, content and transaction-driven financial technology models in India.

The firm is also seeking to invest in the fast emerging social commerce space in India and has held talks with Indian social e-commerce platform Meesho for a possible investment.
