Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk will invest $600 million to expand existing port infrastructure in Nigerian ports to accommodate more container shipping services. The investment aims to complement Nigeria's ongoing $1 billion investment in seaport reconstruction across the eastern and western seaports, supporting port modernisation efforts and port process automation through the implementation of the national single window project.

The chairman of Maersk emphasized Maersk's long-standing engagement in Nigeria, with investments exceeding $2 billion in Nigerian ports and other activities, highlighting the belief in Nigeria's future and the potential for larger container ships to serve the West African coast, particularly in Lagos.
