Energias de Portugal (EDP), an energy company, plans to invest 705 million euros ($801.4 million) in its distribution and transmission segment to increase its size in Brazil by 2020.

EDP Brasil said that the transmission segment is expected to represent 20 percent of the company’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and depreciation and amortization by 2021.

Energias de Portugal’s development plan includes pursuing opportunities to take control of or raise its stake in power plants in Santa Catarina and to buy other strategic assets.

In addition, the company’s expansion plans in Brazil also include the solar energy segment.
