Bolivian telecommunications company Entel intends to inject $288 million in mobile and fibre-optic infrastructure upgrade projects this year.

With the investment, Entel will extend its current mobile base station footprint of 7,751 sites by another 700.

The company said that the infusion is part of the $1 billion earmarked from 2016 through to 2020.

Further, Entel will roll out a fibre optic cable to the Pacific Ocean, to be operational by May and will provide telephony services in the south of Peru.
