Finnish pulp, paper and other forest products manufacturer Stora Enso plans to infuse 22 million euros ($24.8 million) at Skoghall Mill in Sweden in an extension of the existing water treatment plant.

The boosted capacity and new, upgraded technology will advance the water treatment process at the mill. As a result, this will lower the environmental effect of the operations and help to meet future environmental requirements.

By extending the plant, the separation of sludge is enhanced, which in turn advances the quality of the water that is returned to the nearby Lake Vänern.

The scheme constitutes three larger pools for more adequate sedimentation, along with associated process and control systems. Operations are due to begin immediately and predicted to continue until early 2020.
