The funding round was led by Aqua-Spark, with significant participation from prominent investors like The Kitchen Hub by the Strauss Group, Peregrine Ventures, Pico Venture Partners, MOREVC, and CPT Capital. Wanda Fish aims to utilize the funds to accelerate the creation and scale-up of cultivated whole-cut filets of bluefin tuna, offering a sustainable and pollution-free alternative to ocean-sourced fish. Founded in 2021 by The Kitchen Hub and Daphna Heffetz, Wanda Fish is pioneering the development of cultivated fish products, starting with a whole-cut cultivated bluefin tuna filet that maintains the same nutritional composition as ocean-sourced counterparts without common pollutants. Their innovative approach leverages stem cell technology and genomic engineering to produce a sustainable, non-GMO, and nutritionally rich alternative for consumers.
