German energy to healthcare company Siemens AG's medical and healthcare solution subsidiary Siemens Healthineers said it has launched the construction of a 3 billion yuan ($433 million) manufacturing site in Shanghai for imaging and laboratory diagnostics products.

After the completion of the Siemens Healthineers facility, it will become an integrated base of innovation for the company's manufacturing of imaging and laboratory diagnostics products, creating close to 500 new jobs when fully operational.

Siemens Healthineers said that this investment underscores its long-term commitment to the growing healthcare market in the country and across the Asia Pacific region.

The laboratory diagnostics plant expands the Siemens Healthineers manufacturing footprint and enhances the ability of the company to better address the evolving needs of healthcare providers in China by gleaning market insights and delivering more localized products and solutions.
