German aerospace technology company Dornier Seawings has landed a 150 million euros ($172 million) investment from its Chinese shareholders.
Dornier Seawings plans to use the proceeds from the funding to accelerate the development and production of the new-generation Seastar amphibian, the CD2.
The funds will also finance the construction of a new manufacturing facility at the company's headquarters in Wuxi, China, and be used to expand its final assembly base in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany.
Dornier also said that the CD2 is currently undergoing some design changes and certification tests in Oberpfaffenhofen. First flight is scheduled for 2019, leading to certification in 2020 and service entry in 2021.
