Google LLC, a U.S. technology major, is planning to buy Looker, a business intelligence software and big data analytics platform, for $2.6 billion.

Google noted that the acquisition of Looker will help it provide customers with a consistent way to define business metrics across data resources.

The company added that Looker will also give users a comprehensive analytics solution, data insights, embedded analytics and visualizations.

Subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals, the deal is expected to close later this year. On the closure of the transaction, Looker will join Google Cloud.
