Hong Kong-based school chain operator Nord Anglia Education Inc. has purchased People schools under Indian rival Oakridge International brand from People Combine Education India Initiatives Ltd.
Nord Anglia, part of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Baring Private Equity Asia, has bought five Oakbridge K-12 schools for kindergarten to grade 12 students.
The five schools, with a total of 7,000 students, are located in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru and Mohali.
The 1400 crore rupees ($197 million) transaction will allow Oakbridge International schools to extend its offerings.
