Neosun Energy, a Hong Kongese solar energy company, has expanded its operations into the South African market. The company aims to provide commercial solar panels and energy storage solutions ranging from 200 kilowatts to 10 megawatts for various commercial and industrial projects. The focus of Neosun's entry into South Africa includes catering to small- and medium-sized enterprises in sectors such as manufacturing, warehousing, shopping malls, commercial offices, mining, industrial facilities, and pharmaceuticals. Neosun's CEO emphasized the importance of solar PV stations and energy storage solutions in addressing the energy access challenges faced by numerous enterprises in Africa, particularly those in off-grid areas.

This move by Neosun comes at a crucial juncture, as South African businesses grapple with energy access issues, load shedding, and rising electricity costs, which resulted in business losses exceeding $13 billion in 2022. Neosun's entry into the South African market positions the company to contribute to resolving these challenges and providing sustainable energy solutions to support the country's business sector. With a global portfolio focused on remote African regions, Neosun is well-positioned to bring electricity to enterprises and settlements in need.
