Indian technology systems and aerostructures developer Adani Defence & Aerospace and Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems have inaugurated a private sector unit for manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at Adani Aerospace Park in India to cater for both the Indian armed forces and the international market.

The 50,000 square feet facility was constructed with an initial infusion of $15 million and will develop the Hermes 900 medium altitude long-endurance UAVs of Elbit Systems.

The plant will start with production of complete carbon composite aerostructures for Hermes 900, followed by Hermes 480, catering to international markets.

The initial product is predicted to be rolled out in March to April 2019 and the facility will manufacture four UAVs in the first year and this will be boosted to 18 by 2020.
