Indian electric utilities company Power Grid Corp. has secured 22 billion Japanese yen ($199 million) in equity financing.

Power Grid secured the capital from Japanese banking and financial services company Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.'s (SMBC) Singapore branch.

SMBC, Aozora Asia Pacific Finance Ltd. and The Bank of Yokohama invested $140 million, $32 million and $27 million, respectively, as part of the deal.

The company has used the funds to finance capital expenditure for its ongoing and new projects.
