Indian regional language video and picture sharing platform ShareChat revealed that the startup has secured $100 million in a new funding round.

New investors including U.S. online microblogging and social networking service provider Twitter and TrustBridge Partners provided the investment, bringing the total funds raised by ShareChat to $224 million.

Furthermore, the financing round also had participation from existing backers, Shunwei Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, SAIF Capital, India Quotient and Morningside Venture Capital.

ShareChat will use the new capital to strengthen its platform's technology infrastructure, expand its business and acquire talent to facilitate the exchange of ideas between its strategic partners.
