Irish sensors automation company Valeo expects to inject 44 million euros ($49.8 million) in a research and development (R&D) project at its Tuam site.

Valeo intends to create about 50 new R&D roles at the forefront of developments in autonomous vehicles over the next three years.

The site also involves a production facility alongside the R&D centre of excellence with responsibility for the development and manufacture of automotive camera vision systems for global markets.

Moreso, the investment will support Valeo’s R&D centre expansion to over 500 people.
