Italian electricity and gas utility major Enel is close to offloading its stake in a solar joint venture (JV) EF Solare to F2i, infrastructure fund owned by lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, for around 200 million euros ($229.3 million).

With the move, Enel is seeking to free up resources in Italy to develop greenfield projects.

In July, F2i said that it intended to acquire Enel’s stake where each of the companies currently owns 50 percent of EF Solare JV.

Earlier this year, F2i bought Terra Firma’s solar farms in Italy for $1.5 billion.
