Côte d’Ivoire has celebrated the inauguration of the first solar powerplant in Boundiali, signaling a pivotal moment for the nation’s energy landscape. Spearheaded by Ivory Coast ÉNERGIES and supported by technical partners, the project underscores the country's commitment to environmental sustainability. With an initial investment of 40 million euros ($43 million), partly funded by the Government of Côte d’Ivoire and development partners including Germany and the EU, the plant is poised to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 70,000 tonnes annually and pave the way for further renewable energy endeavors.

The project’s expansion, announced concurrently, aims to enhance capacity to an 83-megawatt peak and generate 130-gigawatt hours of electricity, fostering economic growth in the BAGOUE region and improving electricity accessibility for Ivorian citizens.
