JBS USA Holdings, a food processing unit of Brazil’s JBS SA, has announced a $20 million expansion for its Plumrose USA prepared foods business in Ottumwa, Iowa, to meet bacon demand.
The extension project includes additional bacon processing and slicing capacities, bacon equipment renovations and new modern slicing equipment.
Plumrose USA said that the project demonstrates its continued commitment to the Ottumwa community and strengthens the company’s strategy to grow its business through key customer partnerships.
The commitment will result in 25 new job opportunities at the Ottumwa fresh pork and bacon plant. The plant upgrades to improve operational efficiencies and enhance product quality will be completed by September.
