Kuwait-based education technology (EdTech) company Baims has successfully completed a 100 percent acquisition of Egyptian counterpart Orcas, marking a strategic move in the rapidly evolving Middle East and North Africa (MENA) EdTech landscape. Baims specializes in providing online tailored recorded courses to university students in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. On the other hand, Orcas, established in 2019, offers personalized tutoring services to K12 students in international schools. This consolidation, backed by investors like Access Bridge Ventures, Algebra Ventures, and NFX Ventures, positions the new entity as a dominant player in MENA's EdTech sector with a combined funding of over $11 million.

The newly formed entity aims to revolutionize education in the region, addressing challenges through a comprehensive approach that combines online tailored recorded courses with personalized one-to-one tutoring. Baims plans to expand its market presence in Saudi Arabia, tapping into its strategic position as a hub for emerging talents. The acquisition provides Baims with the opportunity to launch specialized AI-driven test preparation products and further cater to the diverse needs of students. The addition of Orcas' seasoned professionals, strengthens the leadership team for future advancements in the EdTech venture.
