Mauritius-based private education institution African Leadership University (ALU) has completed Series B round with $30 million in investments.

With the net capital raised, ALU will launch its lifelong learning centres program, ALX, which opened in Nairobi last year, and is expected to open in Johannesburg, Lagos, Cape Town, and Casablanca in 2019.

The round, led by Danish retail billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, consists of about $28.2 million in new cash and an extra $2.5 million in convertible debt.

Over three years, ALU has raised $80 million from its existing backers.
