New Zealand-based meat and co-products processing company Alliance Group has opened a new $15.9 million venison processing plant at Lorneville, Southland.

The plant features improved handling facilities and an enhanced configuration. The development of the plant reinforced the company's goal of supporting the regional industry.

This investment at Lorneville also reinforces Alliance Group’s co-operative position, innovative processor and will enable it to strengthen its presence in the deer industry.

The venison being processed will come from deer farms from throughout the lower South Island. Once operating at peak capacity, the plant near Invercargill will employ approximately 60 people.
