Lagos State, Nigeria, has initiated the construction of a $100 million Film City to support film production and associated services, utilizing a Public-Private Partnership model. The Film City, situated on a 100-hectare land in the Epe Local Government district's Ikosi-Ejinrin area, is anticipated to generate employment opportunities, foster economic growth, and attract investments. Collaborations with industry leaders such as Ebonylife Academy, Delyork, and Ogidi Studios are integral to the project's success, establishing it as a hub for film production, visual effects, scripting, cinematography, editing, photography, and other filmmaking-related services.
The groundbreaking ceremony, presided over by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, marks a significant step toward enhancing Nigeria's film industry and strengthening its position as a prominent player in the global entertainment sector. The Film City is poised to support the entire filmmaking process, promoting job creation, economic development, and investment opportunities in the region.
