Nigeria-based Capital Film Productions, founded by industry professionals with backgrounds in Google and Shell, has unveiled Act 3, a new 500 million Nigerian naira ($582,062) fund dedicated to investing in Nollywood films. With a history of successful film production, the company has previously raised $800,000 through two funds, resulting in a 37 percent cumulative return from backing seven movies. Emphasizing a focus on retail investors, Capital Films requires a minimum investment of $11,641 and commits $58,206 to $116,412 for each film project. The company's investment strategy involves a meticulous examination of filmmakers' history and business models, anticipating a 24-month average return cycle on investments in the thriving Nollywood industry.

As Nollywood gains global recognition through platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, Capital Film not only invests but also provides advisory services to filmmakers, collaborating during scripting and casting stages to ensure marketability and viable returns. Technology industry professionals are increasingly drawn to Nollywood investments due to shorter return cycles. Capital Films aims to contribute to Nollywood's growth, with plans to close a third fund financing six movies in 2024, expected to reach $50 million. The company's journey from raising funds for individual projects to managing significant liquidity provider funds reflects its commitment to elevating not only individual film productions but potentially the entire industry.
