Optimera Energy LFZ Enterprise, a Nigerian integrated energy company, has initiated a $2.5 billion project to construct natural gas distribution infrastructure in the Lagos Free Zone. In collaboration with the Lagos Free Zone Co, the twenty-year Gas Infrastructure Development Agreement encompasses a 25-million standard cubic feet per day City Gate Station, a 10- kilometer (km) distribution line, and a 6.5 km, ten-inch gas pipeline. Connecting the Escravos – Lagos Pipeline System tie-in point in the Lekki Corridor to the Optimera City Gate Station, the project aligns with Nigeria’s Decade of Gas initiative, aiming to bolster energy reliability and affordability for businesses within the Lagos Free Zone through the utilization of local gas supplies.

Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) emphasized the significance of natural gas in the country's energy matrix, providing cleaner and more efficient solutions. This infrastructure launch signifies not only the installation of pipes and stations but also the empowerment of communities, industries, and aspirations. As Nigeria targets net-zero emissions by 2060, prioritizing natural gas for decarbonization, Optimera's project plays a crucial role in advancing sustainable energy practices.
