Nigerian agricultural technology (agritech) startup ThriveAgric has partnered with Acorn Rabobank to provide carbon credits to over thirty thousand smallholder farmers, generating $56 million in revenue and cutting 1.3 million metric tonnes of carbon emissions across nine Nigerian states. This initiative aligns with ThriveAgric's mission to promote sustainable agriculture practices while impacting rural communities. ThriveAgric aims to empower African farmers in the carbon credit market, addressing the continent's underrepresentation despite its immense potential. The partnership seeks to provide farmers with an additional revenue stream while combatting climate change and enhancing crop productivity.

In another development, Ghanaian agritech startup Complete Farmer has secured $10.4 million in pre-Series A funding to streamline its operations. ThriveAgric, with a footprint across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Uganda and working with over eight hundred thousand smallholder farmers, is also developing Dorewa, a platform to assist climate-focused startups in Africa to initiate their carbon journey.
