Romania's PORR Construct S.R.L., a unit of Austrian construction company Porr Group, has entered into an agreement worth a total investment of 50.5 million Leu ($12 million) with railway infrastructure company Căile Ferate Române.
The contract, to be completed in 17 months, is for upgrading to double-track the railway link between Mogoşoaia and Baloteşti stations in northern Bucharest.
The deal includes a complex range of infrastructure works and railway superstructure all along the route, building of the new Airport station, installation of the railway signaling and telecommunication equipment throughout the distance.
On completion of the contract, Căile Ferate Române will be able to boost the quality of the railway transport services by introducing trains with a frequency convenient to passenger transport to and from the airport.
