South African private education services provider AdvTech and agriculture and agri-processing company Tongaat Hulett plan to establish an all-new private university campus for 10,000 students in KwaZulu-Natal’s burgeoning Sibaya development node near Umdloti, north of Durban.

AdvTech said that aim is to develop institutions that will benefit students, provide greater access to quality education opportunities in the area, and which will ultimately benefit the communities in which they are established.

The university development, touted to be valued at over 1 billion rands (about $71 million) and a catalytic project for the eThekwini Municipality, has been under discussion for some time.

The 1,000 hectares Sibaya project is being developed on prime land owned by Tongaat Hulett bordering Umhlanga and stretching to the Umdloti River mouth further north.
