Mbay Mobility, a Senegalese startup focused on electric mobility, plans to introduce 33,000 electric taxis in Ghana's Accra, Senegal's Dakar, and Ivory Coast's Abidjan over 10 years. After a successful pilot phase in Senegal in 2022, the company is actively seeking financial support for the acquisition and importation of the intended electric vehicle (EV) fleet. Mbay Mobility aims to combat air pollution and reduce carbon emissions in West African cities, with its business model grounded in bank loans and digital services for taxi operators. The strategic focus on the EV market aligns with the growing competition, particularly in Ghana, where approximately seventeen thousand electric vehicle fleets were operational as of November 2023.
