South African financial technology company JUMO has landed a $52 million funding round led by New York-based financial services company Goldman Sachs to fuel its expansion to Asia.

Goldman Sachs noted that there is immense opportunity across Africa and beyond for JUMO to build on its track record developing digital marketplace infrastructure to offer mobile subscribers access to relevant financial products.

Other investors include French development agency Proparco, Finnish development finance body Finnfund, Vostok Emerging Finance, Gemcorp Capital and LeapFrog Investments.

The latest investment brings JUMO’s total fundraising to $90 million.
