Spanish theme and amusement parks operator Parques Reunidos Servicios Centrales SA has agreed to acquire Tropical Islands Resort, a tropical-themed resort situated approximately 60.kilometers, 37 miles, south of Berlin, Germany.
Tropical Islands Resort, with a purchase price of 226 million euros ($256 million), was built in a former airship hangar and opened for business in 2004.
Attractions at the resort include a water park featuring a Whitewater River, one of the world’s largest indoor rainforest, palm tree-lined artificial beaches, a spa complex and a miniature golf course.
The transaction, pending clearance from German competition authorities and other regulatory approvals, is expected to close by February.
