The Spanish government, through the CSAI Foundation, based in Spain, has allocated 500,000 euros ($533,220) to enhance family medicine in Morocco. The funds, fully subsidized by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, were granted with a thirty-six-month execution period. The project aims to support the Directorate of Hospitals and Health Centers of Morocco in implementing and financing activities to strengthen family medicine. This includes enhancing managerial and clinical skills, implementing organizational systems, and supporting reforms to improve primary care quality.

The project, launched in March 2024, will facilitate online and in-person training sessions, visits to health structures, and exchanges between Moroccan and Spanish professionals. The grant resolution breaks down the funds for various purposes, including project expenses, strengthening professional capacities, and implementing a communication plan. Morocco, aspiring to emulate the Spanish family medicine model, faces challenges such as a shortage of doctors and insufficient budgets, hindering proper patient care.
