Spanish natural gas and electrical energy utilities company Naturgy Energy Group SA revealed that it has begun the building works on the 48.5 megawatts (MW) Pastoriza-Rodeiro wind farm.

The wind power plant, with a total cost estimated at about 43 million euros ($48.7 million), is being constructed in the municipality of A Pastoriza, Lugo province, in the community of Galicia in Spain’s northwest.

Pastoriza-Rodeiro, which is expected to create about 340 local jobs, will constitute 14 wind turbines with an individual capacity of 3.46 MW and will have an approximated annual production of 150 gigawatts per hour per year, enough to meet the annual demand of 60,000 local homes.

The facility is part of an asset portfolio Naturgy Energy obtained in the federal tender held in May 2017. With this development, the company also reestablishes its commitment to infuse about $226.1 million in the development of nearly 200 MW of clean energy between 2018 and 2019.
