Dawa Mkononi, a Tanzanian business to business pharmaceutical company, has successfully secured funding from a consortium of investors, including Sanofi Global Health Unit Impact Fund, Pontem Ventures, Warioba Ventures, Villgro Africa, Axian Group, and other local venture capitalists. The financial support aims to advance the company's mission of improving healthcare accessibility across the East African region. Dawa Mkononi, meaning Medicine at your Palms, addresses pharmaceutical supply chain challenges through its mobile application (app). The app empowers pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals to conveniently order medicines, with integrated financial technology options facilitating streamlined payments. This innovative approach not only saves time and money but also addresses issues such as price fluctuations and counterfeit drugs. With an initial focus on serving over one thousand healthcare businesses in Dar es Salaam, Dawa Mkononi plans to utilize the new funding to expand its reach to remote areas, ensuring life-saving medicines are accessible to all. Previously, Dawa Mkononi had received a $50,000 grant from Investing In Innovation Africa.
