British oil and gas exploration company Tullow Oil PLC intends to inject 7 billion Kenyan shillings ($68.9 million) in its Kenyan operations this year.

The company said that the additional funds will be spent on developing wells in Turkana County where it discovered approximately 1.2 billion barrels of oil reserves.

Tullow Oil is continuing to transport about 600 barrels per day of crude oil by road to Mombasa, and anticipates this to rise to 2,000 barrels of oil per day from April 2019.

The company intends to execute commercial oil production this year in a process that will include signing contracts with the Kenyan government.
