Pivot Power, a British large battery storage developer, plans to build a 25 million pounds ($33 million) large-scale battery and electric vehicle (EV) supercharging hub in the north of England close to the M6, the country's longest motorway.

Planning permission for the 50 megawatts battery has been granted, with the hub scheduled to open in Carlisle in October 2019.

UK-based investment manager Downing LLP has provided financial support for the initial phase of the project and plans to provide further funding as the rollout of rapid charging stations progresses.

The Carlisle site is the second hub announced by the company, which plans to build a $2 billion network across Britain comprising of 45 large scale battery and EV charging sites within the next five years.
