U.S. construction company Ajax Building Corp., a subsidiary of Structure Tone Inc., has started construction on an expansion project at the Cherokee County jail in Georgia.

The six-story development, expected to add 500 beds to the facility, is being constructed on a former impound parking lot behind the current facility.

With an investment of $20 million, the finished addition is expected to be inaugurated in 2020.

The jail extension was designed by U.S. architecture and interior design firm Studio 8.
