Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturing company Foxconn intends to start assembling U.S. technology giant Apple's most expensive models, such as devices in the flagship iPhone X family.

The assembling work is expected to take place at Foxconn's facility in Sriperumbudur town in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

Foxconn Technology plans to infuse 25 billion rupees ($356 million) to extend its plant, including a commitment in iPhone production.

The commitment is expected to create as many as 25,000 jobs.
