U.S. plastic packaging products manufacturer Berry Global Group Inc. has further sweetened its 3.34 billion pounds ($4.39 billion) bid to buy British peer RPC Group.

In early March, RPC agreed to Berry Global's higher takeover offer of $10.46 per share in cash over Apollo Global Management LLC's bid.

Berry Global noted that it has made good progress on the transaction and that all regulatory filings had been submitted to the relevant authorities.

RPC will hold a meeting for shareholders to vote on the acquisition on April 18. The company expects the acquisition to be completed in the third quarter of 2019.
