U.S.-based lumber and building products company Biewer Lumber announced that the company plans to invest $40 million in expansion at its Newton sawmill.

Biewer Lumber said that the expansion plans will enable it to increase production by 50 percent, with plans to hire 45 more workers.

In conjunction with the deal, the company could get more than $20 million in state and local incentives on its original $85 million investment and the expansion.

Construction is expected to begin in March and be complete by late 2019, while production is scheduled to begin next November.
